Marriott Manila Welcomes Christmas Together with Philippine Children’s Medical Center

Marriott Hotel Manila has been perfecting the art of making Christmas ‘brilliant’ for the past four years since its opening, and this year is no exception.

Marriott officially welcomed the festive season with their Tree-Lighting Ceremony held on November 12, 2013. The focal point of the event was the life-size train made of gingerbread parked in the hotel lobby, which was very fitting for photo souvenirs, and was filled with gingerbread treats. The Christmas carols we’ve grown to love were partnered with the angelic voices of Himig RoseƱa, the choral ambassador of Colegio de Santa Rosa-Makati.

The distinguished guests who officially lit the Christmas Tree were child patients from the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, the beneficiary of Marriott’s Spirit to Serve initiative this season. Amidst all the merriment, Marriott Manila continued to exercise their corporate social responsibility, introducing to the crowd the stuffed bears for sale at P400 each. Beginning that day until December 2013, the cuddly toys are available for purchase and proceeds will be used to purchase oxygen tanks for the cancer-stricken children.

The momentous event was capped off with a surprise visit from Santa Claus, perfectly portrayed by Marriott’s very own Executive Chef Meik Brammer. All the children happily gathered around him as he gave away Christmas treats, completing the Christmas atmosphere in the hotel lobby.

The season of thanksgiving, gifting, and merrymaking in Marriott Manila has officially begun!

Rex Navarrete Show at Solaire Resorts and Casino on December 21st!

Rex Navarrete started doing comedy at the age of 19. His portrayals, which ranged from his ESL teacher Mrs. Scott to his Uncle Boy and to Maritess the domestic worker gave him the voice to air his thoughts on issues and speak about things that otherwise wouldn’t be mentioned.

Navarrete gathers all of his material from what he calls “real Rex moments,” reality and shared life experiences. “I think everything has humor; you will always find humor. I don’t always make stuff up. Even though most of my material is geared for a Filipino audience, if you’re smart enough you’ll understand the universality of it”, he explains.
He travels all over North America, touring cities such as Los Angeles, New York, Seattle, Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and Hawaii doing his one-man show. He has brought his act to the peoples of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. His next plan of attack is to perform in the United Kingdom, where fans eagerly await his arrival. Navarrete has performed alongside notable headliners such as George Lopez, DL Hughley, Paul Mooney, among others.
He has released several comedy CDs and produced, directed and released live standup DVD concerts. Navarrete’s fourth live comedy album, “Live at Cobb’s” is available on iTunes worldwide, as well as the reissue of his original three CDs in digital download format.

My Little Bossings: A Must-See for Families in 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival

Filipino families would always anticipate December 25. No, it's not only because it is Christmas Day but also because it is the opening day of the much awaited Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). With different movie genres to choose from, watching MMFF movies has been sort of a family tradition for most Filipino families. And all these years, a Vic Sotto starrer is always something to look forward to. Why is that so? Well, more than his name being an institution in the industry and his brand of comedy--it's definitely his movies' moral values that makes his films worth watching. For 2013, Vic Sotto's entry is entitled My Little Bossings--with which he takes on the lead actor alongside child wonders: Little Miss Philippines and Eat Bulaga mainstay Ryzza Mae Dizon and Kris Aquino's son Bimby.

I am really excited on this film. For a change, we do away with magic spells this time and Enteng Kabisote (his much loved magical film of all time) had to take a leave this year because we're offering a heartwarming comedy for the whole family," says Vic Sotto during the My Little Bossings Bloggers' Night.

"We've always wanted to get Bimby for my films. And I'm so happy when Kris had finally agreed to do My Little Bossings. From as early as last year, we had already conceptualized this film with Ryzza Mae Dizon and Aiza Seguerra. I've started in this industry a long tim ago but I'd like to believe this is the best film I've done so far," Vic said.

"I am happy that I'm now one of the lead (actors)," says Ryzza in Filipino. "Before my name wasn't even that visible on the movie poster, even my picture was like the ones seen on IDs--but now, I could see my name on the header and had my picture with Bossing Vic upclose," enthuses Ryzza.

"I am happy that I'm now one of the lead (actors)," says Ryzza in Filipino. "Before my name wasn't even that visible on the movie poster, even my picture was like the ones seen on IDs--but now, I could see my name on the header and had my picture with Bossing Vic upclose," shares Ryzza.

On working with kids like Bimby and Ryzza, Vic says that he never let the two kids work without some amount of play. "I've learned this over the years I've worked with Aiza Seguerra as a childstar. Now, I manage to make time for both so that work would not feel like such," explains Vic,

My Little Bossings is a feel-good family entertainment for all ages. My Little Bossings will be opening on December 25, 2013 at theaters near you. Don't fail to miss it! There'll be lots of fun, surprises and lessons that all families will be able to relate to.

Marriott Hotel Manila Donates to Philippine National School for the Blind

One can say that Marriott Hotel Manila certainly lives up to its "sprit to serve" philosophy in line with their Global Customer Appreciation Week as they recently visited the Philippine National School for the Blind (PNSB) in Pasay City.

Marriott Hotel Manila donated fresh bed linens, plates and utensils to the PNSB for the 75 students staying in dormitories. The Marriott Hotel Manila headed by the marketing and sales executives also spent an afternoon with the children with some fun-filled games, surprises, food and giveaways for the PNSB students.

Marriott Hotel Manila believes in the importance of sharing their blessings and in giving back. Their corporate social responsibility activities are held annually and in doing so they are seeing the world in a whole new way.

It was indeed an afternoon of fun, laughter and surprises as the PNSB students also presented dance production numbers, heartwarming song interpretations and the event ended with community singing.

Marriott Hotel Manila's heartfelt service and excellence acknowledges its success by means of giving back--recognizing the need to share to the less fortunate ones sets it apart from the other hotels. The said activity is Marriott Hotel Manila's own way of saying 'thank you' for their customers loyal patronage.

Nickelodeon's Takotown: A Nickelodeon Halloween Special

Nickelodeon yearly makes halloween even more special as they never cease to present fun-filled activities for kids and kids-at-heart to enjoy come halloween. This year, Nickelodeon presented "Takotown" held at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City. It was a whole afternoon for the entire family. Kids and even adults came in different costumes from their favorite cartoon characters to some fairy princess to Marvel action heroes to what not.

Nickelodeon made sure that guests will surely have a blast with lots of booth games from partner sponsors like Ace Water Spa, Universal Robina's Jack 'n Jill, etc. There were also a few photo booths where the kids had a chance to have photographs with well loved mascots from sponsors from Lotte Koala's March, Kinderino from Kinder Joy, Grimace from McDonalds and Appebon Kid from Appebon.

Those who liked to get some thrill surely enjoyed the Horror booth wherein one enters a 'haunted house' for an interactive halloween experience with the effects inside the booth. Nickelodeon also had other booths for kids to enjoy such as Vulcanizing shop, barber shop where one gets to play and have a chance to win an instant prize. Candies, toys, goodies and lots of freebies made the said afternoon truly memorable.

Stage games were also a hit among the kids. The program started with an awesome dance number from Planet Zips. The program were hosted by Nickelodeon Takotown officials Robi and Lesley. But personally, I truly enjoyed the intermission by Drac Cigam, an illusionist who performed magic and illusions before the crowd. It was really entertaining!

Of course, Nickelodeon acknowledged the best in halloween costumes as categorized in three areas, spookiest, hero character and most creative. I am in awe as parents and guardians as well as the other members of the families, even nannies,   have been very supportive to the, ids. One dad even did the makeup of his daughter. I've also seen adults who were in dressed in costumes as well.

As we left SMX Convention Center that day, everyone seemed to have enjoyed the Nickelodeon event. It was pretty tiring alright, but worth it just the same. The kids had fun and so did the adults.

Asian Massage Salon and Spa

It's that posh salon + spa you can't miss. Makes you think of Barbie and her Barbie world...and if you want to feel like a doll, it's time to check out Asian Massage at Greenrich Mansion on Pearl Drive, Ortigas. After all, it is one hotspot for "pampering from head to toe".

Ambiance: The atmosphere at Asian Massage is relaxed and technicians are friendly.

Services I've tried: I tried the facial treatment which was really just some sort of a facial massage. Unlike in most facial treatments I've had, this one does not have the pricking of pimples or removal of blackheads or whiteheads. The therapist simply applied all sorts of Korean based creams on my face and stroked upwards further massaging my face. The said treatment lasted for about ten minutes.

I've had a pedicure treatment. The technician although looked like a veteran at her age and she was friendly but it's either my cuticle inadvertently got nicked or ingrowns painfully picked at twice during the pedicure. I was a bit disappointed because before we started out the pedi treatment, I had already told her to be extra careful with my digits. But everything turned out okay after seeing my tootsies later.

And since I was in a day spa, I had to have a massage. I opted for a dry 30 minute back massage. The masseuse applied pressure on different points on my back. The overall effect is the dissolution of stiffness ans tension in the span of half an hour. Not bad, I went home felling mighty rejuvenated, with shiny foot nails to boot.

Asian Massage is located at 103 Greenrich Mansion, Pearl Drive, Ortigas, Pasig City.

Philip The Lifestyle Guy on TV5

Some people are born with talent and good luck. When one is loaded with a gift of gab, it is inevitable to find yourself hosting a show, right? Well, it hadn't always been the case with Philip Abadicio. A busy PR executive, businessman, producer, eventologist, lifestyle columnist, Philip had never imagined himself to be on television, much more host a show of his own. But his knack for the things that he does are totally unexpected but nevertheless came at the right place and time--or sort of presented itself and Philip just grabbed the opportunities. It doesn't really need a genius to see how Philip had been enjoying each and every hat he wears. So when an opportunity for him to host a TV show under his name, tackling lifestyle--Philip had just renewed his contract with TV5, there's certainly nothing that could stop him from doing what he wanted the most and where he's really good at--via his Philip The Lifestyle Guy show which will be aired on October 27, Sunday, from 11AM to 12 NN on TV5.

"My show is anything and everything within the metro. It is pretty spontaneous, one minute I would be in a fine dining restaurant, then later on, I will be featuring a simple hole-in-the-wall carenderia. Who says ordinary people can't enjoy life as elite people does? My show helps people to appreciate the simple joys of life."

Philip The Lifestyle Guy also gives the viewing public an opportunity to try what Philip and his guests had just tried on the show through his contest. To join, simply watch his show every Sunday on TV5, and follow him on Twitter @philiplifestyleguy and like his page on Facebook.

Contractubex Success Stories: The Move On Club

I’ve recently met other women who have tried using Contractubex and I was inspired by their triumphs over scars. I myself had a personal experience using Contractubex gel.

A scar is the final stage of the healing process following any trauma to the dermis. Unfortunately, scars have a habit of continuing to grow after they have done their job of binding the edges of the wound together. The scar can be raised (keloid) or depressed depending on the cause of the injury, i.e. cuts tend to have raised scars, whereas acne produces depressed scars.

TV personality/actress Maricar Reyes, entrepreneur Belle Gascon and Taekwondo National athlete Janice Lagman shared their own experiences in using Contractubex during a recent event held at the Posh Nails Makati. Bloggers and other ladies who had tried using Contractubex, known as The Move On Club members were treated to a luxurious foot and hand pampering treatment.

Contractubex is a revolutionary product that can penetrate the scar during the re-modelling stage of healing. It has Allantoin known for its keratolytic effect—softening the skin and is a rapid cell regenerator. This substance has been proven to break the skin keratin protein. Contractubex also has Heparin, which softens the tissue structure, it has anti-inflammatory properties and it also includes Cepae Extract—a special onion extract, another anti-inflammatory, bactericidal properties and prevents formation of excessive scar tissue.

Use Contractubex, and you’ll soon be surprised with the results. Move on, for nobody had to be scarred for life.

Meet the ladies who have moved on:
